About the role
As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will deliver essential nursing care to patients across diverse healthcare environments. You will work under the direction of registered nurses and physicians to monitor patient conditions, administer treatments, and ensure comfort and safety throughout the care continuum.
Your role bridges clinical expertise with compassionate patient interaction, making you a vital member of the healthcare team. You will care for patients with varying acuity levels, from stable chronic conditions to acute medical needs, adapting your approach to meet individual patient requirements.
What you will do
- Monitor and document vital signs, patient symptoms, and changes in condition, reporting concerns to supervising nurses or physicians
- Administer prescribed medications, injections, and treatments following established protocols and safety guidelines
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, catheter insertion and maintenance, and other clinical procedures within your scope of practice
- Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, feeding, mobility, and personal hygiene
- Collect specimens for laboratory testing and perform basic diagnostic procedures such as glucose monitoring
- Educate patients and families on disease management, medication compliance, and post-discharge care instructions
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health record systems and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary care team
What you need
- Current, unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse license per state requirements
- Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Minimum of one year of recent clinical experience in an acute or long-term care setting preferred
- Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to recognize changes in patient status
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Where you will work
Licensed Practical Nurses work in hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, outpatient clinics, physician offices, and home health settings. Your environment may range from fast-paced acute care units to residential skilled nursing facilities, each offering unique patient populations and clinical experiences.
